We began our work with PTOPs in 2017 at MIT’s Department of Urban Studies and Planning and have continued since, refining and reflecting along the way. Conversations with colleagues, friends, collaborators, and students have made us confident that others could benefit from this practice, including:
- workers in non-profits, public sector jobs, or other large institutionalized social impact organizations;
- graduate and undergraduate students;- employee resource networks within corporations;
- any group of people with a baseline level of accountability to each other.
Start with Preparation for more on the "why?" — the personal, professional, and institutional circumstances in which you might benefit from this process — plus how to get going, with a group or as an individual. Move on to Process for guided steps for developing, iterating, and using your PTOP. Look to Techniques for activities and approaches throughout. While we've built many of our learnings into this curriculum, check out Tips for those in a more pointed form (pun intended). Refer to the Map if you need to get your bearings.
